Musée de Cluny

Why locals love it

History lovers, this is the place to visit if you want to avoid the crowds at the Louvre. I'm sure you didn't know that in Paris you can see well-preserved Gallo-Roman thermal baths dating from the 1st to the 3rd centuries AD. The museum is also home to beautiful medieval tapestries like the famous ‘The Lady and the Unicorn’ series.

Why you should visit it

Unlike the Louvre it’s not packed – sometimes you can even enjoy a masterpiece alone. This is very unusual for Parisian museums! You can learn about the ancient Parisian city of Lutèce, the Roman and Gothic periods, religious objects and life during the Middle Ages. Ticket prices range from €6–8.

Special tip

The contemporary gardens inspired by the Middle Ages are also very interesting.
