Why locals love it

Pont des Arts is an amazing place, with many locals opting to bring along a blanket, a picnic basket and a bottle of champagne in summer to soak up the happening atmosphere. Buskers abound, and lovers have recently started attaching padlocks declaring their everlasting love to the fence (so-called "love locks").

Why you should visit it

Watch the sunrise or sunset from Pont des Arts – it’s best viewed snuggled into a loved one. There are some stunning views of Paris to be had looking up to the Ile St Louis, or looking out towards the Louvre. Enjoy the music and people-watching...

Special tip

Although it never came to pass, the original bridge was conceived to resemble a suspended garden complete with trees, flowers and benches.

Hello, is there any other place to put a lock on? Or its not allowed anywhere in paris?

are the locks still there? i read a while back that they were going to remove them due to their weight causing damage to the bridge!

I was just there and the grids were removed on that bridge. they removed all the locks and people put them back on. so they removed the grids completely. you can go down to pont-neuf and on place du post-neuf where the statue is you will see the locks are now there.
