Why locals love it
Pont des Arts is an amazing place, with many locals opting to bring along a blanket, a picnic basket and a bottle of champagne in summer to soak up the happening atmosphere. Buskers abound, and lovers have recently started attaching padlocks declaring their everlasting love to the fence (so-called "love locks").
Why you should visit it
Watch the sunrise or sunset from Pont des Arts – it’s best viewed snuggled into a loved one. There are some stunning views of Paris to be had looking up to the Ile St Louis, or looking out towards the Louvre. Enjoy the music and people-watching...
Special tip
Although it never came to pass, the original bridge was conceived to resemble a suspended garden complete with trees, flowers and benches.
