I'm staying for three nights with my 13 year old son in early July...what area do you recommend we stay to be the most centrally located yet feels like Paris and not just a heavily touristed area...

Hi Lisa,

In Paris, you have a lot of touristic/go-out spots in every district (arrondissement). So, you don't really have some «central» area. And, with the métro (subway), you're near every sites.

But, to avoid some «too stereotypical spots» or, at least live like parisian. You should avoid the 1st, 2nd, 7th, 8th arrondissements.
I'm not recommand you these districts, because they are less central : 12th, 13th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th.

All over districts are typical (very parisian), centrally located, and near a lot of touristics/get-out spots, but residential too...

It's just a proposal, all arrondissements have its little thing that make the difference !
And, again, with the metro, it's ok !

Enjoy
