Eifel is a German region near the border with Belgium where Gustave Eiffel's family comes from. In the past they had another last name but when moving to France they adopted a new last name to make it easier for the French to pronounce. Then is when they changed it for "Eiffel" , with two F instead.
Then Gustave built the 300 mts tower in Paris, and people stared to call it with the last name of Gustave as he was the person behind the project.
So that's it, a name 😉

Hi Sarah;
Eiffel is the name of the guy who ordered the construction of the tower. The Tower of Mr Eiffel, hence the name.
