Paris- Here we come!!!

(1 answer)
By Indranil Traveller August 10, 2017

Me and my wife would be in Paris from the 18th-21st December (backpacking, so on a budget); thinking if we could get some useful information; about travel in Paris and suburbs (pass and zone), places where we could taste authentic French cuisine, any festivals around that time, Christmas markets, etc etc (so many questions)
Also if we could find a place to stay with any willing Parisan...

Hi Indranil,
Here some answers to your questions:

About travel in Paris and suburbs (pass and zone):
You can get a book of 10 single tickets. Each will be good for 1 ride with Metro, Bus, or Tram.
Or if you think you're gonna use the metro 4 times or more in one day, I would recommend you to get a MOBILIS PASS (full day pass) it will be a bit over 7 euros and you'll be able to use it as many times as you want in one day.

Places where we could taste authentic French cuisine:
You'll find many brasseries and cafés much more affordable than restaurants. If you want French Cuisine for low budgets go to "Bouillon Chartier". Of course you cab get much better than that, but it will be more expensive. You can also check the website www.voulezvousdiner.fr to dine with locals at their houses.

Christmas markets:
You'll find the big one at the Champs Elysees, you'll probably find the smaller one at St. Germain de Pres. You can also the beautiful window displays
at Galeries Lafayette. Check the website Paris.fr for more updated info when the time comes.

Also if we could find a place to stay with any willing Parisian:
- You can sign up at couchsurfing.com... there are locals that offer a couch for you, to meet you or organize activities.

Enjoy Paris!
