My father and his girlfriend are coming to Paris for a week. This is only trip I’ve ever know my father to make. Aside from his girlfriend he greatest love is art and art history. Coming from a very small town and being in their late 70’s what are recommendeds for the best way to get around and make the most of their grand adventure?

Don't miss the Orsay for sure...I like it more than the Louvre! There is a great art walk you can get through airbnb experiences through Montmartre that my sister and I, both artists, really enjoyed. If you have a chance to go nearby, a day trip on the route of the Impressionists could be fun. Best way to get around might just be trips with guides that don't involve too much walking, though the subway is very convenient.

It depends on how fit they are... The subway is a great adventure, but a bit complicated and with a lot of stairs. Uber works really well in Paris. It could be great to do a cruise on the Seine. Some are coupled with champagne tasting or dinner. in the touristic places you find some pushbike trolley it's only for tourist but the slow pace can be good to visit the city. Otherwise there are some hop on tourist bus, a bit like an imperial british bus with 2 levels...

Hello Lisa,
On my side, I can of course recommend a wine tasting in my tasting room in the Latin Quarter. I propose French wines Initiations in English, which is perfect way to discover French culture and the lovely wines that can seems a little bit complicated to understand, coming from US.
The website is www.wine-tsating-in-paris.com. You can book a complete French wine tour in 6 wines including Champagne or a wine and cheese pairing class with 4 wines. Have a look on my reviews on tripadvisor and you will see that people of all ages love it!
For the rest, Paris can be an exhaustive city, lot's of walk, lots of stairs in Metro. So prefer more quite an relax activities, like a cruise and dinner on the Seine river ( or at least, a cruise alone). It's a classic, but an excellent way to see the city from the river without walking!
The Louvre Museum is really huge and exhaustive too. Prefer the Musée d'Orsay with all the masterpieces of Impressionists.
There's also a museum of the history of Paris called Musée Carnavalet in the center of Paris, (le Marais) and the small museum that I love called Musée Jacquemart-André, to see how rich families were living in the 19th century and their collection of art. Then you have Picasso Museum, Rodin museum, and Centre Pompidou for the modern art.
I hope this will help.
