Why locals love it

The Frog & British Library is actually a sports bar, pub and restaurant located in the little-known 13th district. I discovered it on a quiet Sunday afternoon when I was craving a pastry after watching a film at a nearby movie theatre. I'm a big fan of cheesecake so I ordered the New York cheesecake – it was delightful!

Why you should visit it

Although I first stopped by for pastry, the main reason to come here is to enjoy micro-brewed beers. Sports matches are broadcasted on a big screen so it’s a good place to catch a game while munching on a burger and fries. Beers are priced at around €7, though on weekdays they’re €5 during happy hour (5 pm to 8 pm).

Special tip

It's a great place for groups as it's really big.

Frog Pubs and British Library is a DISGUSTING establishment. Having worked there and eaten there, I would like to share many of the things I saw that were unsanitary. 1. THEY DO NOT WASH THE PINT GLASSES. When it is busy- the manager encourages and forces bartenders to just fill up dirty pint glasses and give them to clients, insisting that they will not notice. It is also important to note that the water in the washing machine is recycled ALL DAY LONG. There is nothing sanitary about this and could be detrimental to your health. 2. All of the plates used for customers are cracked and breaking. The food at the Frog and British Library is decent, I do admit, but is it worth risking your health? Is having a dirty pint glass explode in your hand, or eating off a plate with crap caked all over it worth it? 3. The Management is horrible. They verbally abuse and threaten their employees. This pub has gone through over 30 people in 6 months. The turnover rate should NEVER be this high and it is this high due to unsanitary conditions and poor management. 4. DON'T EAT THE BREAD! Mice run all over it ALL day. Several times, I have found mouses feces in the bread. Management knows about this- yet does not take proactive measures to ensure the health of the clients. Yes I am a disgruntled employee. But, everything I say is true. The treatment of the employees aside- I thought I would shed light on the unsanitary conditions of this pub. I understand things like this are inevitable- however at the Frog and British Library this was a regular occurrence.
