Our tour was with Victor and we got the luck of the draw and no one else booked on our day. The tour opened with a personal pickup complete with croissants and bottles of water. Victor took us to Château Chambord where we explored the castle and gardens at our leisure. Afterward we ate lunch at a fantastic restaurant carved into the face of a hill. The food was fantastically prepared and we got to chat, eat and have several wines of the region. Finally we visited an organic and biodynamic vineyard where we walked among the vines and Victor explained the uniqueness of the terroir. After the gorgeous walk and talk we got to sample several wines from the region and tour the caves with one of vineyard employees. Truly a wonderful day and quite a value.

Description

After early morning hotel pickup in Paris, you’ll travel approximately 2 hours south of the city in the direction of Chambord Castle with a wine expert as your guide.

You’ll enjoy an audio-guided tour of Chambord Castle in the morning, and will come away knowing the secrets behind this magnificent château, constructed by Francis I of France 500 years ago.

Back in your air-conditioned minivan, you’ll pass through the vineyards of Touraine, Vouvray, and Montlouis-sur-Loire, admiring the colourful landscapes of Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, and Cabernet Franc grapes.

You’ll then visit a family-run Vouvray wine estate, where you’ll meet the winemaker and enjoy a delicious traditional meal, paired with a wine tasting.

After lunch, you’ll visit another family-run winery and taste sparkling white wines, dry and sweet white wines, and red and rosé wines. Here, you'll get to taste authentic Loire Valley wines that are largely unavailable in the rest of the world.

During the day, if the weather allows it, your guide will take you into the vines to explain what’s being done at that very moment!

You'll be dropped off in central Paris (Hôtel de Ville) in the early evening.

Relaxing yet informative tour
It was a great pleasure to have Victor as our guide for a one-day tour to Loire Valley. He has great passion and knowledge in wine. The site and winery that we visited were perfectly arranged. I would highly recommend this tour/Victor to anyone who is interested in exploring Loire with a true expert.
