What an astonishingly beautiful place!! However, unless you're already a student of art history, I'd highly recommend finding a guide to take you through the Louvre. We had the pleasure of doing a 3-hour tour of the Louvre with Georgi Kosev, referred through airbnb. It was an incredible experience. He's so passionate about art and so well-informed, that he literally had us hanging onto every word. Hint: the Louvre is open two evenings a week until 9:30 and it's a great time to go as it's not as busy as during the day. Also, you can buy your tickets and get in downstairs, in the mall, where the lineups tend to be much shorter.

I would definitely book this trip again.
The trip with Georgi to the Louvre was perfect! He explained interesting little bits of art history the paintings and importance of each piece. I would definitely book this trip again.
Highly recommend this tour.
Hi, I would give our experience a 5 star rating. Georgi was very very enthusiastic, engaging, interesting and informative. He is also a very polite, sweet and happy individual. He brought us around the Louvre at a very nice relaxing pace but still managed to include all the highlights. He spoke with an infectious passion for art that he had everyone from my 14yr old daughter to my 69yr old mother hanging on his every word. His english was perfect and his manner was delightful. Highly recommend this tour.
