Archaeological Museum of Paros Island!

Archeological Museum - Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο

Why locals love it

It is not a large museum but the exhibits are most interesting ones, gathered from excavations in the islands of Paros and Antiparos. These findings go as far back as the Neolithic Age and cover all eras till the first years of Christianity. The few museum halls are most functional and all exhibits are categorized by their time period in groups.

Why you should visit it

One of the most important and interesting archaeological findings is the Victory of Paros, dated at 470 B.C. The statue is missing the head, limbs and wings pieces. Most impressive is also the statue of Artemis – dominating the space with its height (almost 2,5 meters). This statue is dated at 480-490 B.C. and was part of religion rituals.

Special tip

Finally, there’s also the impressive statue of Gorgo, one salvaged almost as a whole!
