Any local can tell you that putting this colossal monstrosity of a building at the intersection of Philadelphia's two main streets is inconvenient (to say the least) in a 21st century world. However, City Hall's legacy for being one of the most ornate and impressive 19th-century buildings keeps the complaints at bay.

City Hall is easily the most renowned Second Empire style building in the US. Its design features a total of 250 sculptures, located internally and externally, which depict the city's key historical figures and its value of diversity and multiculturalism. There is no building or attraction that better represents what Philly stands for.
City Hall has a two hour tour every day at 12:30 which allows you to see its ornate interior, clock tower and observation deck. I highly recommend it!
