Why locals love it

If you are reading a list of top attractions in Philadelphia, you'll probably see Reading Terminal Market recommended. But by no means is this a place a tourist trap! Locals not only come here to have a bite from some of the best eateries in the city, but it's also a great place to do a little bit of grocery shopping from local vendors.

Why you should visit it

There are so many places in this market, that you should probably consider going more than once if you can. The many vendors serve many different types of cuisines, including local favorites like Philly cheesesteaks, roast pork sandwiches, or unbelievable pretzels or donuts made by the Amish & Mennonites who come in from Lancaster County, PA.

Special tip

Be aware of their hours. This is a great place for lunch, a snack, or even breakfast. If you plan to come for dinner make sure it's an early one.

Whenever I have people from out of town, I ALWAYS take them here. Just a great slice of Philly.

Run like Rocky - DO NOT walk to this destination. And please, come hungry. And no, I 'm not singling any vendor out for accolades - they're all good. Eat all of the food! However, if I had to choose a couple of spots, it might have to be a roast pork sandwich with sharp provolone & rabe from DeNic's. And some hot coffee from Old City. Oh wait, wait. there are those terrific grilled cheeses in the back from MeltKraft.......just eat all the food. Give them all of your money.

YES! The amount of good food at the Terminal is amazing. A little too good as it is really bad for my wallet...
