City of Asylum is located in a neighborhood street in Northside Pittsburgh where foreign poets and writers sought asylum. It was started as a grassroots project. Walking down the street, you will notice the houses painted with unique art, such as the writers' portraits and passages from their poetry on the outside of several houses.

The city of Asylum is located in a calm and simple neighborhood. Off street parking is free and does not require any residential permit. All of the poets' and writers' colorful houses are located within a short walk from each other. The street is also in vicinity to Randyland and the Mattress factory which are described separately.
Before visiting, you may want to check the City of asylum website to check for events. It is advisable to go there by car or taxi.
