Why locals love it

Commonplace Coffeehouse was voted as one of the 50 best coffeeshops in the US. Despite their expansion into several branches, the owners maintained the essence of a local coffeehouse with skilled Baristas and tastefully brewed coffee. They sell neatly packaged coffee in addition to a variety of coffee brewing and grinding merchandise.

Why you should visit it

Although this branch may be occupied by studious people and Wifi hoarders that make conversations awkward, the place is roomy enough for a coffee conversation and has outdoor sidewalk limited seating overlooking the busy Forbes Ave in Spring or Summer. It is always worth checking out there blackboard art facing you as you enter the place.

Special tip

Try their hand-poured coffee. The owners give you the option to place a sign on the table that it's you share your table with other people.

I love Commonplace Coffee. It's also right next to a small independent bookshop, which is awesome, and in one of the cutest and most unique neighborhoods in Pittsburgh. Definitely stop here for a strong cup of coffee and a snack but go outside and walk up and down the main streets Forbes and Murray windowshopping and then go onto the back streets to see the gorgeous synagogues and Jewish culture of the neighborhood.
