The Merikarvia's Fishing Museum Area displays the history of fishing and handling the fish in the area. In the area you can learn about the history of herring fishing and boat building, among other things. There is a renovated fisherman’s cottage and a smoke sauna on the beach.
Rääkkipaatti boat was completed in 1947 in the yard of fisherman Olavi Santamäki. The boat is 13 cubits, or about 7.9 meters long. It is the last boat made of wooden stakes, as no nails were available due to the time of scarcity. The boat has been used to catch herring and salmon. Over the years, it has had a few different owners.
