Why locals love it
Fort Jacques is one of the places I always take guests to visit. While most of the "history" you hear from guides is just legend, the fort itself is still worth the trip. It is actually a revolutionary war era building, but no, the mortar between the stones was not made with the blood of disobedient soldiers.
Why you should visit it
The cool air and pine forests are a welcome respite from the heat of Port-au-Prince.
Stop at the taptap turn around station at the Fermathe market for fritay before heading up on moto taxi to the fort.
