Homesick for Paris? (Sick of goulash?)

La Gare

Why locals love it

Although La Gare feels like a homey place where they want you to be happy, and are accommodating, it is still quite posh, with linen tablecloths and a huge, plush leopard print curtain at the front door to keep out the cold. Wines are a 'big deal,' as befits a French establishment, and have some other than the usual fare in most places.

Why you should visit it

It is famous for Sunday brunch Eggs Benedict with champagne, but also has a nice limited menu, which is much larger during the week. We had a window seat and waitresses who were personable and informative. I am a dessert 'nut' and admitted to being disappointed in the caramel cake. It came off the bill immediately, rare in Prague!

Special tip

They also have a take-out patisserie of in-house desserts and a small selection of cheeses, pates, and groceries from France, not to mention wines.
