Vinohrady in Prague
Why locals love it
Vinohrady means "vineyards", and this uphill area was once covered in vineyards dating from the 14th century. Nowadays it's full of elegant, leafy residential streets with chic cafes and restaurants.
Why you should visit it
The church and square at Náměstí míru (peace square) is very beautiful, and surrounded by sophisticated restaurants and bars which are cheaper than in the city centre. There are also Christmas and Easter markets held on the square, which are less busy than the ones in Old Town. A traditional wine harvest festival is also held here in September.
Visit Riegrovy Sady park with two beer gardens and views of Old Town and Prague Castle. Havlickovy Sady park is calmer, with a villa and vineyards
