By Viola Traveller April 18, 2017

Hey, a high school class is going to Prague in a few weeks. We will spend 3 and a half day there. Could you please recommend us cheap restaurants, bars , pubs , street food places or anything where we can have lunch, buy food for not too much money?Or any student budget-friendly places? Thank you for your answer in advanced! :)

Hey Viola,
you don't need to worry that much about prices of food. I see on your profile that you're from Budapest, which means that you can expect similar prices like in your hometown :-) most of the restaurant serve lunch menus where you can get a full meal around 150 CZK, which is pretty good deal. For a bunch of kids, I would recommend checking out these spots:
Lokál restaurant in Dlouhá street (http://lokal-dlouha.ambi.cz/en/)
Bohemia Bagel on Malá Strana (http://bohemiabagel.cz/)
Repre-Restaurant (webiste in Czech only https://www.repre-restaurant.cz/ ).
Czech Republic has a large Vietnamese community and they have excellent food. Check out Banh-mi-ba - they serve excellent baguettes and traditional Vietnamese food (http://banhmiba.cz/kontakt/).

Hope this helps. Keep in mind that if you want to come with a large group of people, you will always need a reservation. And if you need a student-friendly guide to show you around in English or German, let us know :-)

Cheers,
Mike

Hello Viola,

I can recommend Dhaba self service vegetarian restaurant. Especially their branch close to Florenc metro stop. This restaurant is big enough for the whole class:-)

Einsterin restaurant ! It's pizzeria for student. You can take 2 pizza (or lassagne, pasta,burger,..) and you will pay only for 1 meal if you have isic card for students. Its situated on Žižkov - street Husova, second one is on Vinohrady - street Londýnská and there are also 2 - Újezd and Letná. Have a nice trip!

I can't recommend any one place but can give you an overview. You sacrifice quality for low prices. I got goulash (gulas) once that was so tough, I couldn't chew it. Food is very much overcooked here, which dries it out. Some places have glasses of very weak cold tea on the tables. They only charge you if you drink it-don't bother. You will see 'lemonade' on menus but that just means water with some flavored syrup--not worth the price. There are KFCs everywhere but the taste isn't the same--not nearly as good, and limited selection.. They only put ice in drinks if you ask:: 'sledem.' Roast duck is often on the menu but I consider it a treat/delicacy-as long as it hasn't dried out. Most neighborhood places are about the same price, low in comparison to the dollar and Euro. Do tip, give them a 20 crown coin--Czechs are notorious cheapskates, maybe because in the Commie Era, there was no tipping, comrade. It makes you feel good to make someone happy so cheaply. Stock up on munchies in the little potravinys (Vietnamese groceries) that are on about every street corner. Word of warning: do not take a taxi for any reason-they are all thugs. You can go anywhere on the metro or trams and enjoy the view. Have a fun trip. To see the city, take the #22 tram from one end of the line to the other. It goes past Prague Castle and basically bisects the city. Keep wallets zipped inside a second compartment in your backpack. Have fun!

Hi, there are many small pizza places at metro stations where you can buy really cheap slices of pizza, but you can't sit there (it's not a proper restaurant)
