We´ll stroll through the historical Old Town of Prague and view the most notable monuments of Czech avantgarde architecture (Art Nouveau, Cubism, Functionalism ect.) ending with a drink in one of my favourite pubs.
At the beginning of the last Century Prague was one of the leading centres of the European avantgarde scene, where such original concepts like cubist architecture evolved. The dynamic cultural exchange between the Bohemian metropolis and cities such as Paris, Vienna or Moscow, combined with the desirable political climate of the First Czechoslovak Republic created a breathtaking ensemble of modern architecture.
My tour explains why and how architectural styles of the early 20th Century developed, which building types and construction techniques emerged, what these buildings symbolized in former Czechoslovakia and what they are saying nowadays.
