Kutná Hora is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a former economic capital of Europe. For centuries, it was a source of wealth for Czech kings. Visit the former Royal Mint, a medieval silver mine, the stunning Church of St. Barbara and the breathtaking Sedlec Ossuary on a private day tour from Prague.
Duration 10 hours
Private tour available in English
Group tour available in English
Group tour pricing from 75 EUR per person
I wanted to visit the bone church in Kutna Hora and used Explore Prague to book. Michal met up with my traveling companion and I at the hotel. It was the last day of our 21 day trip and had yet to pack so everywhere he wanted to take us in Kutna Hora needed to be significantly reduced in time. He knew what would be important for us to see in this town and made sure we did it all in the allotted time. We three had a wonderful lunch at a restaurant with excellent service and food. My frog legs were the best ever. So the bottom line is this whippier snapper of a guide is knowledgeable, flexible and took very good care of two 60+ women. I'd use Michal again in a heart beat.

Description

I’ll meet you at your hotel and walk with you to the railway station. During the 1-hour train journey through the beautiful landscape of Central Bohemia, I’ll introduce you to the history of Kutná Hora from its foundation to the height of its glory.

Our first stop will be the stunning Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady and St. John the Baptist. We’ll then visit the Cemetery Church of All Saints and its underground ossuary, located just a few steps away. You’ll learn how and why the ossuary was created and see some amazing artworks made out of human bones.

After a short bus ride to the city centre, I’ll show you around the Italian Court – the former Royal Mint and residence of Czech kings.

A short lunch break at a local Czech restaurant will follow, after which we’ll embark on a fascinating journey through a real medieval silver mine.

Our last stop will be the Church of St. Barbara – an amazing gothic cathedral with original medieval frescoes on its walls.

At the end of the day we’ll enjoy a relaxing train ride back to Prague.

Michal was great! Very personalable and did a lot history discussion as we made our way to Kutna Hora by train. The private tour was well worth the money as we were able to have more specific discussions about the sites and area. If you want to relax and really enjoy the trip, book with Explore Prague. I would guess you will get the same great experience and in-depth knowlwdge of whatever you see.
Day Tour to Kutna Hora from Prague
Michal was outstanding. We were a group of 16. All were seniors but two. The train ride was comfortable and relaxed. Michal was very accommodating and professional in every discussions, from history to architectural design. The lunch was one of the best we had for value and taste throughout our entire trip. There was so much to see in Kutna Hora. It's highly recommended for anyone to include a day tour to Kutna Hora if one were to visit Prague.
