Urban Adventures: Merry Markets Christmas Tour of Prague

From

45 EUR

Christmas markets hold a special place in the hearts of Europeans, and for good reason. From the illuminated Old Town and wooden stands showcasing handmade goods to the smell of roasted nuts, properly spiced mulled wine, gingerbread, and cut pine – we’ve got it all!

Duration: 2.5 hours

Not all ChristKindl Markets are created equal - Urban Adventures has filtered out the unworthy and highlighted the best of Christmas in Prague.
Our highlights were tasting authentic Czech holiday treats and hearing stories about making them at home, having the top rated Gluhwein (hot wine) in Prague - which we both agreed was better than anything we had in Germany, and seeing the best markets in town.
The Christmas market tour is shorter, yet packed with great info and insights - would happily go on another tour with Misa!

Description

After meeting at Jungmann Square, we’ll hop on the metro and escape the bustle of the centre to experience our first market, where you’ll taste mulled wine and sample a Christmas snack.

As we eat and explore, you’ll learn about our holiday traditions (the Christmas carp, for example). You’ll also find out what baby Jesus has to do with a little hedgehog, why there’s no Santa in this part of the world, and what Christmas means in our secular nation.

You’ll discover that locals in Prague have a lot of holiday traditions that are very different from what you’d expect!

Next, we’ll wander along some of Prague’s beautiful streets to our second Christmas market, where you’ll be greeted with hot mead and roasted almonds. Here, we'll take a moment to point out some of the best places for you to visit during your stay.

We’ll then make our way back to the city centre, where you’ll learn about Christmas before, during, and after the 1989 revolution, and about our beloved former President, Havel.

At our third stop, you’ll be seeing the market that put Prague on the Christmas map. It’s here that our tour will end; we’ll leave you at the Old Town Square to explore to your heart’s content!

Brilliant, highlight of my trip!
Petr was absolutely wonderful and very knowledgeable about the beer, food and history. I had a brilliant evening exploring bars off the beaten tourist track and I felt like I got to see some places I would never have discovered on my own. The local beers he recommended were superb and tailored to my tastes perfectly. Petr was a delight to spend time with and made me feel very at ease.

I would more than happily recommend this tour to anyone, it was brilliant.
A Wonderful Night in Prague
Jiri was a very good tour guide. Really appreciated his knowledge and extra touch to the evening. We also lucked out on getting a great group of people to share beer and tapas with. One of our best nights in Prague. I highly recommend this tour.
Great Tour!
Our guide, Tomas, took us to 4 places that were local and off the beaten path.. We had a small group of approx 10 folks from Norway, US, South Africa and more. Tasted many types of locally brewed beers and ate fried bread, pickled sausage, marinated camembert, strudel and other things (I didn't taste the cow tongue, but others did). Tomas was a great guide. We are a bit older and had to work at times to keep his fast pace, but I would gladly do it again!
