Petr, a parasitology Ph.D. candidate at Charles University, started truffle hunting as a side business to supplement his academic work. His canine companion Nela is an excellent example of the traditional Czech expertise in dog training, which you will see firsthand as she bounds through the trees hunting for treasure.

On this tour, you will see some of the beautiful parks and gardens that Prague has to offer as Petr shows you how Nela was trained to seek out delicious, expensive fungi. You will learn about the biology and history of truffles in Europe, including right here in the Czech Republic. Best of all for foodies, you'll get to taste them yourself at a classic Czech restaurant near the Vltava in a dish prepared just for you using truffles from Petr's own stash.

Prague Truffle Hunting Tour with Luxury Lunch

This tour is a must have in Prague

The reason why I signed up for this tour is because that I was a little bit overwhelmed by the tourist crowd at the Prague old town and looked to have a more authentic way to experience the real Prague from a local's eye. It eventually became the best experience I had in this city and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who want to see some of the off-the-beaten-track.

Dana is a great tour guide. I was lucky enough to be her only guest on that day. She made me feel like she is a friend of mine from Prague, not just the tour guide who makes a living doing this as a job. The entire tour was awesome and I typically enjoyed the lesser town, which is such a quiet and artistic area between the old town and the castle district. I also appreciated how flexible she was with the time to allow me to take plenty of pictures. Not to mention that she is a good photographer and was always happy to take pictures for me whenever I requested.

Couldn't be better than this. Go for it ...

We took a tour with Dana!
And we were just two of us.
The tour started at 9 Sharp. And she took us through the places of Prague that only a true local would know. We were saved from the crowded touristy streets and roads and we had an awesome time with her.
She took our photos and was patient enough to. Stop at the places we liked to half more. She even offered free wifi but which was not needed. We enjoyed walking and exploring Prague on feet for almost 12 kms ... And we didn't realise we had walked so much.
Truly I would recommend this tour with Dana for those who don't want any rushed and pushed group tours.
We had views of Prague that no group tours could have provided us.
Our trip got delayed from 1pm to 3pm but she was never hurrying us and even dropped us till metro station and guided us how to go about in Prague . 😀

Exactly what we wanted!

This tour was absolutely wonderful and exactly what we wanted. Dana is so energetic and incredibly bright. She knew the answers to all of our questions and her English is impressive! We loved the small group tour (it was just my husband and myself + 1 other tourist), and it was so much fun to experience Prague through Dana's eyes. We avoided the Charles Bridge and the Astronomical Clock, thank goodness, as the city was absolutely mobbed. Instead we got to see some unusual sites and learn a lot of history about the city that we otherwise would not have experienced. I had been to Prague before and I hadn't seen anything on this tour. We absolutely loved this experience and adore Dana, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a a really solid tour in Prague.

Perfect way to see Prague

I cannot speak highly enough about this tour; Dana's Prague Behind the Scenes tour is the perfect way to see the city. Not only are you given a great amount of historical background, you are taken to many sites that large tours would never think to show you. Her WiFi was perfect for everyone's needs and she even helped take photos for me as I was a solo traveler. I felt like I was being guided not only by a local, but by a friend. Some of my favorite moments during my visit to Prague were on this tour. I have already sent a friend from DC on this tour and will continue to tell everyone I know that when they visit Prague, be sure to take Dana's tour. You will not be disappointed!

Dana is a wonderful guide!

Dana is a wonderful guide and was extremely knowledgeable about all parts of the tour and she offered an amazing insight that we probably would not be able to find with other tour guides. If you want a unique perspective on Prague from a true local, I highly recommend Dana. She was also extremely friendly and approachable whenever we had any questions and knew all the answers to our questions. We also asked for recommendations for restaurants, pubs and places to go and was so helpful with her suggestions! I was so engaged I didn’t even use the free wifi she had :-). Thank you very much for your time Dana!

You will not regret it! :)

I met Dana at the meeting point. She is a very cheerful and enthusiastic person. She showed us many different places and provided us with interesting and information and lots of funny facts about the places and the history. I liked the fact that she showed us Prague through her eyes.Also, she showed us places to have a nice dinner and cafe's which I would not have known about as a tourist. Because we were with a small group, there were many opportunities to ask further questions and she new a lot about everything. In short: I highly recommend her as a guide!

A fantastic day

I went to Prague with my aunt. I am 48 and she is 70. As she wasn't used to ride more 'sporty' bikes, she was at the beginning a bit afraid. Eva was our guide and she managed very well to get her at ease. She was very helpful and friendly. It was a wonderful ride along the river. The places for the coffee break (with cake :-)) and the lunch were very nice, the food was good. We got back with the train and took a little ferry. We ended the day with a drink on a boat, a very nice place and not so touristic. The pictures will tell you a lot.

David was a brilliant tour leader! He was very knowledgable about the city's history, culture, and people, while also entertaining us with personal stories and providing a different perspective on Prague. He took great care of us (I got a flat tire and he took my bike and ran with it while I had his bike so as not to interrupt the tour) and even extended the tour by 2 hours so we could sit in a beer garden and see a couple extra sights! What a fantastic way to spend the day, Highly recommend!!

Alternative Prague Tour Review

Great tour with Tomas. He took us around more off the beaten path locations of Prague. We really enjoyed hearing about Prague from a local's perspective, including the history and places that locals go to. Next Prague visit we would definitely want to stay in some of those areas.

Thanks, also, to Tomas for sharing some of his meal during out last stop. It's rare to get that kind of hospitality and kindness during a vacation.

Overall, a great and highly recommended tour.

Alternative Prague Tour

Brilliant, highlight of my trip!

Petr was absolutely wonderful and very knowledgeable about the beer, food and history. I had a brilliant evening exploring bars off the beaten tourist track and I felt like I got to see some places I would never have discovered on my own. The local beers he recommended were superb and tailored to my tastes perfectly. Petr was a delight to spend time with and made me feel very at ease.

I would more than happily recommend this tour to anyone, it was brilliant.

Urban Adventures: Prague Beer & Czech Tapas Trail

Really good and relaxed tour

We really had a good time walking along this tour. Dana had a lot to tell (in fluent English). She is a local with a good knowledge of Prague. She was always happy to help to take a picture or to answer our questions. I booked the tour for my wife and me. The small group makes it in my opinion a lot more enjoyable to follow a tour. We can recommend this tour if you are staying in Prague.

Awesome, best tour

Superb.. walking in streets and alleies far from the tourist crowds. I recommend it to everyone visiting Prague. This tour should be done first day you get in Prague.
Dana also is an amazing and fun tour guide. She is so kind and thoughtful.
On the day the tour my mobile died and I missed the meeting point and time, I contacted Dana later, and she rescheduled my tour for me.

I give absolutely 5 stars for the tour!

I joined this tour of Dana when I was visiting Prague in mid April. It was a very pleasant experience with Dana's outstanding hospitality and knowledge of the city! I was a bit worried about the length of the tour at the beginning as I am 7 month pregnant; however, it turned out very fine and Dana was running a very good pace throughout the tour. Highly recommended!!!!! Thanks!

We spent half of our first day in Prague with Dana and had a wonderful time. It was a very relaxing and pleasant way to experience the city. Great experience sprinkled with lots of cool stories!

We loved the tour in as much as it opened our eyes to the rich cultural and social context of this beautiful city. The guide was engaging, approachable and with lots of interesting things to share. An underground artist in her own right, she was the right person to introduce us to the alternative Prague. Totally recommend it!

Alternative Prague Tour

Different to other tours

This is a great tour, that is quite different to other tours around. The tour begins by learning about the truffle industry followed by a lovely walk up Pertrin Hill watchling the beautiful Nela hunt for truffles. The tour ends with a quite nice meal that includes truffles.

Amazing unique experience

Exploring the nature side of Prague with Petr and Nela gave us a fresh perspective of the city. Petr was very patient with us when he explained how he trained Nela to hunt for truffle. Needless to say, Nela was a darling and we all loved her. Truffle hunting was one of the main highlights of our stay in Prague!

Alternative Prague Tour

So great

The truffle hunt was so great and our tour guide was very informative, friendly, and helpful. She even gave us recommendations for other places and things to do in Prague. The lunch we ate after was very delicious. Overall had a great experience and would suggestion friends to do it.
