Reviving a theater!

Bolívar Theater

Why locals love it

Inaugurated in 1933 by the wealthy businessmen Carlos and César Mantilla, this was one of the most important theaters and cinemas of Quito for several decades. Unfortunately a fire produced in 1999 destroyed the 70 % of the building. This place is in the memory of locals that remember with nostalgia operas, concerts, plays and movies seen here!

Why you should visit it

The current Fundación Teatro Bolívar is restoring the theater and recuperating its architectural Art Déco details. As a way to support this process, they present concerts and plays. The main hall was almost restored and the foyer too. There is an excellent cafeteria and a restaurant.
