This is a small museum located in a Colonial house in one of the most traditional neighborhoods of the Historical District of Quito. The museum is managed by the Ministry of Culture and Heritage of Ecuador and offers art workshops and activities for free.

Camilo Egas (1889-1962) is considered the pioneer of Modern art in Ecuador. Throughout his career he depicted Indigenous colorful fiestas and traditions, as well as the suffering of poor people in the USA during the 1929's crash. He passed through all the different styles such as Social Realism, Surrealism, Abstract Art.
Pay attention in the huge adobe wall on the street and the Colonial's cow's vertebras put on the floor as an adornment. Ask for Ramiro to guide you!
