La Previsora Building

Why locals love it

This was the first skyscraper built in Quito in 1930 by the American architects John Hopkins and Dentz. It was used for the Humboldt Hotel and then it was occupied by La Previsora bank ans Shell Petroleum. For old people, this is the memory of an epoch of nostalgic splendor in 1940s and 1950s.
