Why locals love it

This is a museum located over a very important archaeological place where the archaeologists discovered several tombs were Ancient Quitenians were buried between 200-680 AD. The area around this cemetery is a crowded neighborhood located on the slopes of the Pichincha volcano.

Why you should visit it

This is one of the stunniest Pre-Columbian cemeteries found in Ecuador with a very nice display of the 15 meters tomb-pits. In one of them, the archaeologists of the Metropolitan Institute of Cultural Heritage made a reconstruction of the tomb with the mummies. The faces of this people were reconstructed and also the astonishing "ponchos".

Special tip

The ponchos were made with thousands of beds of Spondylus shell.
