This is the seat of the Legislative Power. This is the place where 130 congressmen create or aprove the laws that rule Ecuador. The building was built in 1959 for an International Meeting that never occurred, but the Congress started functioning here until 2006 when it was transformed in the National Assembly.

The main stone façade was carved by the Ecuadorian sculptor Luis Mideros and tells the history of Ecuador from Pre-Columbian times to the Republic. In the main hall there is an impressive mural made by the famous Ecuadorian artist Oswaldo Guayasamín.
The mural inside depicts several leaders of Ecuador, but also a soldier with a helmet of the CIA, as a symbol of protest against interventionism.
