Rumipamba Archaeological and Ecological Park

Why locals love it

This is a park located on the slopes of the Pichincha volcano, the protector mountain and the symbol of the city. Quitenians are very proud of their ancestries and this is the best place to learn about the past. On weekends families like to come to spend some hours in contact with nature and during the week school kids come with their teachers.

Why you should visit it

In the decade of 1980, a group of Ecuadorian archaeologists dug and found the remains of the Ancient "Quitus", the first inhabitants of the city before the arrival of the Incas. The park includes some Pre-Inca trails and the diggings where you can see stone walls, canals, and the foundations of houses and temples.

Special tip

There is an enigmatic skull found in one of the Ancient walls and don't miss to walk through the "culunco", an Ancient path.
