Sucre House Museum

Why locals love it

This is also known as the "Blue house", because of the color of its walls in 1800s. This is the house where the so-called "Marquess of Solanda" lived for few years with her husband, Antonio José de Sucre, the leader of the Independence of Ecuador in 1822 and Father of the Nation. This is the reason why this house is revered by locals!

Why you should visit it

This house dates back 1714, when the family of Mariana Carcelén, "Marquess of Solanda" bought it. In 1828 the Gen. Sucre married her and they lived in here only for three years until the assassination of Sucre in Colombia in 1830. The architecture has been recuperated and the exhibit is very well presented with old-fashioned furniture and Art.

Special tip

Pay attention in the stone fountain in the central courtyard and check the window with a masonic symbol!
