There is always something going on. Rarely a dull moment. The bartenders are nice and the music is interesting, but sometimes even challenging. If you want your basic party music, then you better look somewhere else - as this place offers a bit more alternative options.

It's a cool place. It's a restaurant in the daytime (never tried it myself though) and a pub in the evening (tried that way too many times). The staff is friendly and the locals are chatty and interesting.

To discover the true Icelandic nightlife, this might be your best bet. You might have to show up early, unless you meet up with some hip Icelanders who are on a talking terms with the doorman - as that might help you escape the ridgid waiting line.

Cool place with a cool crowd. The interior is interesting with the wallpaper from old newspapers. It sometimes offers live music and there is a piano there waiting for the perfect musician to arrive.

This place is positioned at the university campus and is therefore a little getaway from the central scene. As mentioned before the alcohol has a "european price" and the crowd are mostly university students in their early 20's.

It offers light meals, cakes and a pretty good coffee. The outdoor terrace is on a good day one of the nicest places to hangout in downtown Reykjavík. The staff are friendly and atmosphere is quite relaxed. Overall the place is quite family friendly.

On a sunny day it's great to sit outside and enjoy the vibrant downtown life. The coffee is good, though I wouldn't order tea here (teabag + hot water = nahh..). It's a cozy place, though I wouldn't say this makes you feel like being in Paris.

Great way to experience the madness of competitive sports. Icelanders have their teams in England and stick with it to the end (except the Manchester City fans, we all know where they come from). The place takes up to 200 guests and often there are special offers at the bar.

It's a genuine party place. For the younger readers, this is a great place to hang out, listen to music, chat with locals and have some drinks. The music does sometimes get loud and unable to hold a meaningful conversations, but isn't that part of the experience?

I haven't been so impressed with the food there, but it's perfect for drinks (coffee and alcoholic beverages). It has a long and interesting history, being one of the oldest houses in Reykjavík (built 1805).
