The city offers a great variety in food culture. Local cousine, as well as Asian and South European cousine are easy to find. As a proud fishing nation, the fish offered on restaurants are fresh and the dishes can be quite creative.

One of the best breakfasts and brunches you can have in Reykjavík without selling your precious organs to finance it. It offers great vegetarian dishes and the salad of the day is a safe bet. They also have a shop close by, which you must visit while there.

The overall atmosphere in the place takes you to another time and space. It's calm, comfy and cuddly. The staff is friendly and they make a mean hot cocoa. It's kind of like being in a vintage cabin. Great place for tired travelers to unwind.

The vibe is retro and the waffles are grand. This place has a soul, which is a rare feature. Unfortunately it doesn't have any wi-fi, but it does have a good cup of coffee.

It has sandwiches to die for and the occasionally served french meat soup is destined to warm up your body after a cold and long day of window-shopping. Soup of the day is a safe bet for the wandering tourist. The crowd varies from young artists to a friendly old couples sharing a cattle of tea.

I haven't been so impressed with the food there, but it's perfect for drinks (coffee and alcoholic beverages). It has a long and interesting history, being one of the oldest houses in Reykjavík (built 1805).

On a sunny day it's great to sit outside and enjoy the vibrant downtown life. The coffee is good, though I wouldn't order tea here (teabag + hot water = nahh..). It's a cozy place, though I wouldn't say this makes you feel like being in Paris.

Grandi area is the new hip area in Reykjavik. Lots of little shops nearby and the busy harbor attracts. Grabbing a coffee-to-go from Cafe Retro and enjoying the walk is a perfect mixture. They do have a little patio, but only recommended for the few sunny days - as the inside interior isn't very appealing.
