Why locals love it

The food is always good, though the prices have become quite "touristic". It has a pleasant atmosphere and a friendly staff. The lobster soup has been a favorite for many of the locals and probably one of the best places to try the whale meat.

Why you should visit it

It's a great place to taste the riches of the Atlantic ocean. Iceland is a proud fishing nation and knows how to handle their food. You can have a go at all kinds of seafood that you wouldn't dare trying anywhere else.

Special tip

For the adventures ones, trying the whale meat with a dash of sweet mustard can be a delight.

Anything you'd recommend with non-touristic prices for trying whale, lobster soup and other local delicacies you keep mentioning? :)

You can buy whale meat in the markets, usually labelled as Hrefnukjöt, and grill it by yourself. 40 seconds each side with a lean piece and add a little bit of sweet mustard - and then you're good to go. There are no non-touristic prices for the whale, sadly. I really hope someone will correct me on that.

My girlfriend's uncle started this place until he died recently. Weirdly enough, there a wax figure of him in the restaurant. If you want a standard Icelandic dish of fish, go there. This place really reminded me of the simplistic cooking methods my mother has with sea food.
