A group of friends and myself joined Anna and her dog Dolci for a gentle hike in the beautiful countryside a few miles outside of Reykjavik. Anna provided lots of useful information prior to our arrival in Iceland and helped us with bus timetables for our bus ride to the village where she lives (very easy journey). Anna gave us lots of information about the geography and history of the local area whilst we were out walking with her. After the walk we had lunch provided by Anna at her home. This was an absolute treat - so yummy!! We all came away feeling that we had made a new friend in Anna. I thoroughly enjoyed our time spent walking in the stunningly beautiful Icelandic countryside. I strongly recommend this tour if you prefer an alternative to the more commercialized trips that are on offer in Iceland.

Anna was very helpful with directions on how to use public transport to meet her for her tour. She met us off the bus when we arrived and was immediately welcoming and very friendly. We walked to her home and was offered toilet facilities before setting off for our nature walk with her lovely dog Dolci in the hillside above her home. She obviously is passionate about her country and area that she lives in and was very informative. After the walk we went to her home for a typical Icelandic lunch which included homemade fresh pancakes straight from the pan, delicious with homemade jam. I would recommend the tour if you like to get away from the city into peaceful countryside to experience it as a local.
A very special day
Anna is a wonderful host and guide, offering an intimate experience of Icelandic life. I am so grateful I got to experience her home and the beautiful hills and mountains where her family has lived for generations. Her sweet son and adorable dog joined us. I learned so much in just three hours, and my time with her truly touched my heart.
