Why locals love it
Viðey is the largest island of the Kollafjörður Bay, just outside Reykjavík. It was once considered the best place of living in the earlier times. It has a vivid birdlife and lovely basalt formations. It is the location of the Imagine Peace Tower and a coffeehouse
Why you should visit it
It is a lovely way to spend the day. Different view of Reykjavík and good way experiencing the older times. Check out the Imagine Peace Tower, which was envisioned and built by Yoko Ono.
Special tip
Be careful when travelling with children, as there are cliffs, ditches and ponds there which could be hazardous.
