Why locals love it
Located in a nice wooden building in Riga centre, this place can be easily passed by unnoticed. But if you look inside the large window you can see the minimalist industrial interior design that together with traditional Latvian wood makes it warm and cosy. Austra was created by chef Rūta Rietuma and Ģirts Točelovskis.
Why you should visit it
Austra is a name from Latvian mythology, symbolising the tree of dawn. The cafe is located on 2 floors, upstairs there's an open-style kitchen. During daytime they have daily lunch offer - combine up to 3 courses by your choice. In the evening you can order from menu. It's not big, but full of seasonal local produce. At weekends they serve brunch.
Try the selection of Latvian cheese from small cheese makers and Austra's home-baked bread. They have good choice of local craft beer by Malduguns.
