Why locals love it

Latvians are pretty obsessed with different crafts – self-made accessories, weird design inventions and so on. All of that and even more you can see and buy in Gallery "Istaba". Istaba means "Room" in latvian, and in fact, this gallery is so cozy with warm people working in it, that people come here just to feel good and have a good time.

Why you should visit it

Alongside with the amazing and really unique crafts, there’s always an actual exhibition going on. And if you’re hungry, there's a marvelous cafeteria upstairs. Only five tables, each one with it’s own character and no menu - you’ll choose your meal while having a nice chat with the chef who will cook something just for you.

Special tip

Let the chef surprise you, feel special and enjoy comfortably creative atmosphere.

On the first floor - art gallery / shop, but look up and you will find restaurant with delicious food. Creative and cozy interior design. Very friendly and attentive staff. Carrot cake with cinnamon cream - ah!

This is a place you should go with about 3 other people to get the home style feast experience. You pick your main and let the kitchen take care of the rest. The staples are usually salad and some incredibly delicious buttered bread with various spreads. The rest of the side dishes that come out depend on what the kitchen has decided to prepare for the day. It is intimate with limited seating on the second floor that overlooks the gallery area BUT the decor is unique and very cozy. Look out for the teeny tiny notes left behind by previous guests hidden at the second table.
