Warm, tasty and Latvianish doughnuts near the Āgenskalna market. The place looks like old and weird, but the inside is so much better. I discovered it on a rainy November evening and was pleasantly overtaken by nostalgia. A friend told me that there are two cooks. If you're lucky and you get the good one, then know that Riga loves you. (Kidding.)
It's a tiny place which looks worn out, but the food is greasy and delightfully good. There are mostly fried doughnuts with several different dressings. You can also try "bumba ar biezpienu", which is a fried ball with the Latvian cottage cheese. And, of course, the famous "čebureks", which comes either with a pork filling or cheese & veggies.
Be sure to try the apple doughnut!
