The barricades in the capitals cities of Baltics, was a crucial moment in the regaining of the independence of the three countries in January 1991. The biggest part of the population participated in the unarmed resistance, courageously facing the unknown. Most of the people are still among us, living witnesses of history.

How does a small, new country fight for its freedom against a big and powerful Soviet Union? The Museum of the Barricades is the place where the personal stories wind together with the political context and the management of this historical event.
On January 2016 the museum will be organizing different public events to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the barricades. Don’t miss it!
