Great easy going trip
Had a great time, thank you very much to our guide!
Some useful comments:
- Likealocal confirmation email gave a meeting address near the the church, which was a little confusing. You should meet at the front of the church. Check the website of the actual tour company if you are uncertain.
- Don't be nervous about the workload, even having zero experience and arms like twigs, being in a 2 person kayak wasn't any hassle at all, it was light work between two, with no arm aches or anything the next day (but then maybe my girlfriend was doing all the work! haha!)
- You get offered two choices of paddle - twisted or simple. Don't feel bad if you want the simple one, I tried both, but preferred the simple one for sure :)
- Saw some reviews about anti-bug spray - there were no mosquitoes on our trip, but we had sunny days, but perhaps they spring up after rainy weather.
- They provided a wetbag to safely store some items, but it didn't get wet at all inside the boat, apart from the occasional splash if you are really clumsy with your paddle :D
Riga at Night Kayak Tour
Excellent coverage of a difficult subject.
I booked this tour as I wanted to find out more about the reality of living in a Soviet satellite state and it was everything I had hoped for.

Lisa is an excellent guide and had clear memories of living through the transition to independence in the early 1990s, as well as family anecdotes from the ww2 period which brought home the horrors of living through wartime occupations.

As this was a private tour we could indulge ourselves in additional discussions about other Riga issues, so covered many other interesting areas like the Orthodox Cathedral and the new State Library, finishing up at the memorial to those who were deported to Siberia during the Russian occupation in the 1940s.

Highly recommended, if this is a subject that interests you.

Awesome Riga Tour on water
We loved the tour on the river, first we thought that it will be too hard for our hands but eventually it was fun and interesting. The guide was professional and had lot of interesting facts to tell us. Loved the jokes about Estonians and Latvians :) I know that some people have told that the tour was to long for the, yes we finished 1:20 but it was worth it, we loved every moment of this tour. So if you are going to book this tour, to not tell your friend that you are coming to the club with them ;)

Best regards
Lauri
Riga at Night Kayak Tour
Great tour guide if you are into dry humor
I am from Latvia and I understand our dry and semi-snippy humor.
The tour was great and the tour guide was even better. My boyfriend and I took the tour last Monday evening and it was a great time. You can paddle at your own pace and the guide will stop throughout the tour and wait for everyone to get there and talk about different locations. However, the tour guide does have a dry humor and some people might not get it. We would give this tour 10/10 -would definitely recommend.
Riga at Night Kayak Tour
great time!
we were taken around by Liga. She was fantastic. We were a hen party of 11 and Liga was so thoughtful to work some anecdotes on Latvian wedding traditions and even had a small gift for the bride.

The tour should have finished at two but it ran over a little and Liga was really patient and stayed with us.

The actual content of the tour was fascinating and we learnt a lot about architecture and sime great stories from the history of Riga.
Culture & Food Tasting Experience in Riga
Just GREAT, make sure you plan this in your trip!
After pick up we went to the kayak place and had a quite long explanation... maybe this can a little bit faster and less into details, since most of it is self explaining.
`when in the water, you float 2 hours with just stunning views. Starting in the Daugava River and continuing on the canals.
Make sure to bring a camera and take the time to take gorgeous pictures from the buildings.
Riga at Night Kayak Tour
it was great!
A perfect way to get known the city of Riga!
We learned and heard so much about Riga, the people, the food, the buildings there.
Liga was the best tourist guide ever. She tried to tell us what we were interesstes in. Thank you so much for this great day! We would really recommend the walking tour!

Great experience
My friends and I had a great time doing the kayak tour. The tour guide was friendly, informative and made sure we all had the best time. I'd absolutely suggest bringing a raincoat as we all got absolutely drenched from both the rain and the water from the river!!

Would definitely do this again.

Soviet Ghosts of Riga Walking Tour
A wonderful experience
We had a great time. We saw things that we wouldn't normally have the chance to see. (Unfortunately we didn't see a beaver, but other people on the tour saw them). Riga at night from the river is beautiful.
Riga at Night Kayak Tour
Cool experience!
Night kayaking was incredible! An experience I will never forget. I wish I would have received an email with a breakdown of what to expect but the rest was great. I felt well prepared and had a blast.
Riga at Night Kayak Tour
Great tour
A lovely idea, something a bit different. The guide is knowledgeable and friendly. Good length and the canal is very quiet. Highly recommended

R
Tour and Instruction on Kayaking
A great tour. I love learning a new skill, while seeing a new city and learning history. There is a lot packed in this tour and your guide gives 100%. He will give you good instruction on how to paddle, waterway safety and gear. He is serious about this. In the first and last parts of the tour you do need to cross shipping lanes used by bigger ships. Listening to and follow his instructions. He says practice, you practice. He says go straight, go straight. Once you get to the canal....ah, you start to take it all in and it is really a great way to see the city. I agree with some others that finding the meeting point would be easier if pictures were sent like 12 hours before the meeting time. Or an exact pinpoint of the meeting spot was sent. I know the instructions say, "in front of St. Peter's church" but when you just arrive.... it can be confusing. The front of this church looks a bit different than other "front" of churches, to me anyway. Thanks for a great, great tour. Would recommend if you up for a kayak lesson and a bit of adventure at night, for sure!

Nice day out to Sigulda with Agrita
We had pre-booked this tour from Traveljam, thinking the programme looked interesting. Agrita turned out to be a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. She told us many interesting things, but also knew when not to talk (which is good!). Her minivan was comfortable and her driving skills OK.We visited the bobsleigh track and were lucky enough to see some training activity. On to the Gutman cave, which is situated in some charming gardens. Next was Turaida, where we visited most of the historic buildinsg on the estate, saw a lot of the statues on Folk Song Hill and then onto the castle (ruins). All the while accompanied by Agrita's stories, in which you could hear the love for her country and its traditions. Lastly she accompanied us for a late lunch with local dishes. She was very attentive to the fact that one of our group could not walk long distances. And her sense of humour matches ours. All in all a very nice day out (we were lucky with the weather too).
Day Trip to Sigulda from Riga
Excellent tour and guide!
Liga is an excellent tour guide and took us on the "Soviet Ghosts of Riga Walking Tour". She is very knowledgeable and has personal experience from the Soviet times. The tour was very well designed, took us to places of great interest on the subject. After starting close to old town, she took us further out by public transport (all tickets were included in the cost of the tour). She offered us couple of options for ending our tour which was really nice. We had really good conversations on several topics about the Soviet occupation and also current situation in the Baltics. She also recommended places to eat and things to do. Overall, I would highly recommend this tour if you are interested in the topic and want to meet someone who works hard to give you a great experience.
