Your tour begins in charming Old Riga, where the centuries-old buildings speak extensively about Latvian culture – one of the oldest living cultures in the world. Here you’ll hear stories of exciting times in this beautiful city’s history, discover the most picturesque sights, see major monuments (such as the House of the Blackheads, the Three Brothers, and St Peter’s Church), and hear interesting stories about what makes Riga so special.
After a short coffee break with a traditional Latvian pastry, you’ll head to the remarkable art nouveau district. It features art nouveau masterpieces on almost every street corner. You’ll learn what the symbols hidden on the stunning façades mean, discover the location of the most beautiful staircase in the city, and visit other special places that only the locals know about.
The tour ends with tastings of typical local food at the art deco and neoclassical Central Market.
Note that this tour involves a lot of walking (approximately 8 kilometres). Please let us know if you have any medical conditions or would like a shorter tour. Also - this is not a typical food tour! We only spend in the market 30-50 minutes.
