Every country has its own cuisine and eating habits, and Latvia is no exception. Explore the nation’s culinary traditions with passionate food lovers on our Latvian Food Tasting & Cooking Tour.
Our first stop is the Central Market – a special place in Riga’s history and daily life. It’s the biggest food market in Europe located in five old zeppelin hangars, each with different products: fruit and vegetables, meat, dairy, fish and gourmet goods. Strolling through the market, you’ll be introduced to Latvian cuisine, eating habits, traditions and values that are taught from childhood. You’ll also get the chance to meet local salesmen and sample traditional Latvian delicacies and drinks. Personality and a friendly attitude are important here, especially if you want to bargain and pay less!
At the market, you’ll be given a shopping list and goals to achieve. Once all of the ingredients have been procured and tasks completed, we’ll head to an authentic local home to prepare a typical Latvian meal including soup, a main and a dessert.
