Customer feedback about Tours in Riga

Rating 4.9 based on 61 reviews

Excellent coverage of a difficult subject.
I booked this tour as I wanted to find out more about the reality of living in a Soviet satellite state and it was everything I had hoped for.

Lisa is an excellent guide and had clear memories of living through the transition to independence in the early 1990s, as well as family anecdotes from the ww2 period which brought home the horrors of living through wartime occupations.

As this was a private tour we could indulge ourselves in additional discussions about other Riga issues, so covered many other interesting areas like the Orthodox Cathedral and the new State Library, finishing up at the memorial to those who were deported to Siberia during the Russian occupation in the 1940s.

Highly recommended, if this is a subject that interests you.
Soviet Ghosts of Riga Walking Tour
Perfect tour
Our morning didnt start as planned because rain interupted our plans and we thought that all fun of exploring Riga will be lost, Until we met Agrita - our tour guide was excellent, not only she lifted everyones spirit despite the bad weather, she managed to show us whole old town and anawer most insane questions our group had. Really good invesent and very well spent time. Definetely a must tour for everyone who is visiting Riga for a first time ! 10 out of 10!
Riga Medieval Old Town Walking Tour
great time!
we were taken around by Liga. She was fantastic. We were a hen party of 11 and Liga was so thoughtful to work some anecdotes on Latvian wedding traditions and even had a small gift for the bride.

The tour should have finished at two but it ran over a little and Liga was really patient and stayed with us.

The actual content of the tour was fascinating and we learnt a lot about architecture and sime great stories from the history of Riga.
Culture & Food Tasting Experience in Riga

Culture & Food Tasting Experience in Riga
Great walking tour!
We really enjoyed our tour around Old Riga, on a chilly February Saturday. Our guide met us at our hotel, and walked us through the old town. We had some extra time at the end, so she brought us also to the Art Noveau areas.
Highly recommend!

Riga Medieval Old Town Walking Tour

I was three times earlier in Riga at the business trip as always. And always I was walk alone. Actually, first time with tour guide Laura. During the tour we were explore main architectural sights: Old Town, Art. Nouveau district, warehouse area and panorama of Riga. Some of these places were known for me, but with Laura's companion, Riga became just diffrent place than before. First of all - as somebody mentioned - she has a deep knowlege in history and especially in art history. Besides, wide range of knowlede in past and present political situation not only in Latvia, but also in whole Baltic Region. Additionally she was all the time active and answered for our questions through all tour and our group from different countries felt very well. I would like personally - and on behalf of our group - to reccomend Laura and Travel Jam for anybody: groups like ours, for individual tours and for family. Only one was wrong - it was too short (only 3 hours). Thank you Laura once again !!!

Nice day out to Sigulda with Agrita
We had pre-booked this tour from Traveljam, thinking the programme looked interesting. Agrita turned out to be a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. She told us many interesting things, but also knew when not to talk (which is good!). Her minivan was comfortable and her driving skills OK.We visited the bobsleigh track and were lucky enough to see some training activity. On to the Gutman cave, which is situated in some charming gardens. Next was Turaida, where we visited most of the historic buildinsg on the estate, saw a lot of the statues on Folk Song Hill and then onto the castle (ruins). All the while accompanied by Agrita's stories, in which you could hear the love for her country and its traditions. Lastly she accompanied us for a late lunch with local dishes. She was very attentive to the fact that one of our group could not walk long distances. And her sense of humour matches ours. All in all a very nice day out (we were lucky with the weather too).
Day Trip to Sigulda from Riga
Excellent tour and guide!
Liga is an excellent tour guide and took us on the "Soviet Ghosts of Riga Walking Tour". She is very knowledgeable and has personal experience from the Soviet times. The tour was very well designed, took us to places of great interest on the subject. After starting close to old town, she took us further out by public transport (all tickets were included in the cost of the tour). She offered us couple of options for ending our tour which was really nice. We had really good conversations on several topics about the Soviet occupation and also current situation in the Baltics. She also recommended places to eat and things to do. Overall, I would highly recommend this tour if you are interested in the topic and want to meet someone who works hard to give you a great experience.

I was perfectly happy with the tour. My guide Dita was a very friendly and very competent person. She guided me through the different quarters of the city with Art Nouveau buildings explaining the different styles that emerged in Riga as part of Art Nouveau. She also explained a lot about history and culture of Riga which helped me to get a notion of the city and its people. After the tour I walked through the town with a fresh look on its architecture and I felt I was able to see things that I would not have been able to see without the tour. I would highly recommend the tour to anyone who is interested in Art Nouveau in Riga. If I had to take the decision again on whether or not to book the tour, I would definitely book again.
Riga Art Nouveau Walking Tour
I
On a business venue in Riga , we were offered by the organisation a guided tour of the city by TRAVEL JAM and Laura was guiding our group .
I had been several times to Riga in the past but never had a chance to see more than conference centers, hotel rooms and airport lounge.
This 3 hours tour gave us the highlights of the city and Laura was a most interesting , articulate, smart and proactive hostess opening doors for us to a rich heritage and thrilling history of the city .
When I thought guided tours was only for tourists , TRAVEL JAM proved I was wrong and I nearly regretted that the tour was only 3 hours .. There was so much more I would have wanted to discover in the Wake of Laura ... I keep that for next time !
Riga Art Nouveau Walking Tour
Absolutely perfect way to get to know Riga
This was a really great way to see a bit of Riga before going exploring on your own, and the guide, Laura, was amazing. She contacted us before the tour to make sure we knew where to meet her and offered to collect us from the hotel. When we met her, she was very friendly and chatty, and knowledgable!! She took us on a lovely walk around the old town of Riga where she had picked interesting spots to stop and give us loads of info about Riga as a whole and what we were looking at also. Inbetween the stops there was constant chat about any number of topics! Overall it was a really lovely way to get to know Riga!
Orientation Tour of Riga
Our excursion in Riga was very, very good. For the guide, Andra, we give 11/10. Her English was very understanding, because normally we speak Dutch. She gave us a very objective summary of the Latvija history and on all our questions we became a answer. As we were for a short stay in Riga with the excursion we have a notion of the country too. Thanks for the organisation.

One remark out of the trip. The misunderstanding at the start (we were in Hotel Blu Radison Latvija and the car was at Elisabeth hotel), but with the help of Laura (in Spain) and the reception of our hotel in 3 minutes we had a solution.
Rundale Palace Half-Day Tour from Riga
C
Brilliant day out!!! Top tour with Travel Jam & tour guide Laura
I have a tour to Sigulda on the 27th March 2016 with Laura from Travel Jam. It was fantastic. She is so knowledgeable and really goes out of her way to give you a really authentic experience and tailor the tour to your specific interests. We had so much fun exploring the castle and seeing/taking part in the Easter Festivities. Even got to meet a local artist who did a brilliant pop up sculpture for the Easter Swing festival. Thank you Laura for a fab tour. You are one of the best tour guides I have had and I loved every minute. Highly recommend Travel Jam to visitors travelling to beautiful Latvia :)
Day Trip to Sigulda from Riga
K
I was very lucky to have a very nice 2 hour tour of Riga Old Town with Laura. She gave me a very well though out "live documentary" on the history of Riga. Walking around by yourself, you can of course appreciate the beauty of the buildigns. But to have someone like Laura telling you the stories behind them, pointing out all the details, answering all your questions, and being very good company while doing that, was just amazing! The time flew by. I wished I didn't have a plane to catch.

I can very warmly recommend this tour for everyone!
Riga Medieval Old Town Walking Tour
Very nice tour with a very competent guide from the city center. It was very informative to see what the Soviet era was like in Riga, the history, the lifestyle and the monuments. The tour also included a small trip on tram to the market place which was nice to experience Latvians daily life.
The guide shared with us part of her own experience and life during the Soviet times as a Latvian, and also shared with us a special black bread drink on the roofs on the Academy of science building :).

Interesting Tour with a Great Guide
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Liga was very knowledgeable and personable. This was our third time to Riga so we were looking for a tour that was different than the standard walking tour of old town - we were not disappointed. As stated in the other reviews, you get to see a side of Riga that most tourists don't get to see and you realize there is much more to this city than the old town. We send our thanks to Liga for being such a wonderful guide and we would definitely recommend this tour.

Fun and very interesting!
My friend and I are interested in history and wanted something different - preferably with a Soviet flavour...and we were not disappointed! This tour takes you beyond the standard touristic areas and allows you to explore a fascinating era of Latvian history. Our guide Liga was both charming and knowledgeable- her insights are fully authentic since she personally experienced the era, having lived there during the period of occupation. Highly recommended!
