Bookshop cafe is still quite a new concept in Riga and it’s nice to see that Zvaigzne bookstore has chosen the philosophy of specialty coffee (coffee from small-scale farmers, hand-harvested, freshly roasted and properly brewed). The cafe was opened in autumn 2016 by Kristaps Kilbloks, son of the owner of Zvaigzne ABC publishing house.

They offer coffee from Atkinsons, coffee roasters from Lancaster, UK. Kristaps had been living there for a while, right above the roastery. So he brought this idea to Riga, gathered skilled baristas and opened his own cafe. Besides coffee you can order soup or salad. Try the eclairs made by Raunas Dārzs from organic ingredients, they're excellent!
I'm sure you will notice the super-cool aprons that baristas are wearing! They are hand-made by PEŠA Customs, local leather workshop (Gertrudes St 32)
