Cacique de Ramos is one of the more old and traditional carnival blocks of Rio de Janeiro. The court of Cacique is open every sunday for an amazing free samba roda. Once a month is served Feijoada, a popular Brazilian food. Lots of people from all over the city goes there to enjoy the samba, even being located in the distant neighborhood of Ramos.
The samba is really great and outside the mainstream tour - like Pedra do Sal or the clubs in Lapa. It is free and provides the truly 'carioca' (nickname of Rio citizens)experience of attending a samba roda, drink beer and see beautiful people dancing. Even being distant from the central and south zones of the city, it is not difficult to go there.
The bar usually sells combos of 10 beers at once in ice buckets, good for large groups - and you don't have to go all the time buy your beverage.
