Canastra Bar

Why locals love it?

Hidden in Jangadeiro Street, this new little bar is a great surprise. Just across Praca General Osorio square with those tourist traps, Canastra offers a cozy atmosphere and a non-fried menu that includes Canastra cheese (a regional kind of cheese made in Minas Gerais) and charcuterie platters.

Why you should visit it

With an French accent as It’s run by 3 French guys, they do serve reasonably-priced wine and of course, as we are in Rio, beer. Try Ipanema from another point of view: Have a sit in one of the sidewalk tables from this unpretentious bar and enjoy the friendly vibe.

Special tip

Oyster’s every Tuesday after 6pm.

The Burrata cheese and bread is incredible. Great mix of Cariocas and Gringos.
