Confeitaria Colombo - Eating & Things To Do in Rio de Janeiro - LikeALocal Guide

Why locals love it?

This 120 years old cafe/restaurant is one of our most precious gems. We don't have many old restaurants and cafes so this is a very special place for us. The food is amazing and you fell like you went back in time.

Why you should visit it

If you are in Centro visiting the old buildings or the Municipal Theater this is definitely a must. They serve amazing tea time menus. You can also go there for lunch, they have good sandwiches. It is not the cheapest place to eat but it is worth the visit.

Special tip

There is also a Colombo in the Forte de Copacabana. It is not as beautiful but having the Copacabana view while drinking coffee is not so bad =)

Yes, she's right. Colombo in the Centro quarter of Rio de Janeiror remembers me the restaurant Martinho da Alçada em Lisboa. But not in the same "atmosphere" the Colombo in Forte Copacabana is also a must. Sitting beneath a tree taking a glass of white wine having the entirely view of Copacabana beach is something amazing...

This is one of the oldest and most sophisticated cafes in the city. Many important people in the history of Rio and Brazil have frequented this place. And even today the menu is wonderful. I recommend waffles with ice cream or the Petrópolis toast with a cup of coffee or tea.
