Why locals love it

Jongo and Coco are two very traditional dances in brazil, probably the most root ones. Not even all the cariocas know it. Jongo is a dance and musical genre of black communities from southeast Brazil and Coco comes from a mix of the native and black communities culture. A way before all the samba appeared.

Why you should visit it

It's a cultural immersion even for cariocas and brazilian sometimes. Jongo and Coco it's so beautiful and tells us a lot about our history and culture. The dance is so interactive and joyful! At 20h is the Coco's circle dance with Zanzar group and at 22h starts the Jongo da Lapa circle dance. And it's all free, under the Lapa Arches.

Special tip

It's only on the LAST thursday of the month!
