Mureta da Urca

Why locals love it

Preserved Architecture from Colonial Days. Fabulous Cafés. Great Restaurants. Overall, a lovely place to spend the entire afternoon combing the back streets, stopping for a beer and enjoying conversation with locals along the famous bay facing rock wall.

Why you should visit it

The neighborhood of Urca is a bit off the tourist trail, but rich in history. It feels like a quintessential South American town. It event boasts the oldest street in Rio and was where Carmen Miranda was first scouted for American Pictures.
